SR&ED with Orientum
We help Canadian founders turn real R&D into SR&ED claims the CRA approves. We write them with your technical team, cost them properly and defend them if they're reviewed.
SR&ED in brief
The Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program gives tax credits on what you spend experimenting your way through technical uncertainty. That's mostly the salaries of the people doing the work, plus contractors and materials.
CRA isn't asking whether your product is innovative, it's asking what you didn't know and how you went about finding out.
Federal figures under Budget 2025 measures for tax years beginning on or after December 16, 2024. Eligibility limits apply; many provinces add their own credits on top.
How we work with you
We sit with your technical lead, not your bookkeeper, to find the work that genuinely qualifies. If it doesn't, we'll tell you plainly.
We write your project descriptions around the real uncertainty your team was resolving. It's the part most claims get wrong.
We calculate eligible salaries, contractors and materials so your claim captures what you've earned and holds up to scrutiny.
Filed with your T2. If CRA reviews it, we handle the review at no extra cost.
Why Orientum
We only get paid when your claim succeeds, so we only take on claims we believe in. We specialise in claims of $100K and up. Below that, the cost of doing the claim properly eats too much of the benefit.
No retainer and no upfront cost.
Correspondence, technical defence and the meeting if there is one.
Your claim is led by specialists with over a decade at firms like KPMG and PwC.
Your claim is built alongside your tax strategy, not in isolation.
We rewrote the technical narrative around the actual uncertainty their team was resolving and filed. Approved without review.
Anonymised at client request. Details available under NDA on a call.
