SR&ED Consulting

97% Approved. $5M+ Unlocked. Built for Claims of $100K and Up.

Most SR&ED goes wrong in the narrative, not the numbers. CRA isn't asking whether your product is innovative, it's asking what you didn't know and how you went about finding out. We write claims that answer the question being asked.

Process

How a Claim Gets Built

01

Eligibility Review

We sit with your technical lead, not your bookkeeper, and find the work that actually qualifies. If it doesn't clear $100K, we'll tell you.

02

Technical Narrative

Written around the technological uncertainty your team was resolving and the systematic investigation they ran, in language CRA reviewers recognise.

03

Costing

Eligible salaries, contractors and materials, with the proxy method applied correctly and defensibly.

04

Filing & Defence

Filed with your T2. If CRA reviews it, we handle the review at no extra cost.

Common Reasons Claims Fail

  • The narrative describes the product, not the uncertainty.
  • Routine engineering is included and drags the whole claim into review.
  • Contractor costs claimed at the wrong rate.
  • No contemporaneous documentation, written up a year later from memory.
  • Government assistance not netted against the expenditure base.

Questions

SR&ED, Answered Plainly

Do we qualify if we're not doing research in a lab?

Almost certainly, if you're building something where the outcome wasn't knowable in advance. Software teams resolving scaling, integration or performance problems qualify routinely. The test is technological uncertainty, not novelty to the market.

Why the $100K minimum?

Below that, the cost of doing the claim properly eats too much of the benefit, and a weak claim invites a review you don't want. We'd rather tell you to wait a year.

What do you charge?

A flat 15% success fee on the credit you receive. No retainer, no hidden charges, and nothing to pay if the claim doesn’t come through. IRAP and FedDev Ontario applications are priced per project and quoted upfront.

What happens if CRA reviews the claim?

We handle it at no extra cost. Correspondence, technical defence and the meeting if there is one are all covered by the 15%.

Can you fix a claim another firm filed?

Sometimes. We've had claims approved that a previous firm called ineligible. Bring us the narrative and we'll tell you honestly whether it's salvageable.
